My Own Specific Obsessions
(and related compulsions)

The current page is a reference to my own personal obsessions and compulsions, a bird’s-eye view of Mr. OCPD’s condition. It is proposed as an alternative dictionary of OCPD symptoms. The latter are obviously very personal as they relate to my own life and personality. Consequently they should be taken as a reference, not a “bible”, in the sense that the symptoms described might be indicative of your own symptoms and of your own personal thinking, although expressed in slightly differing and idiosyncratic ways.

I have detailed here my obsessions as they occurred to me at the time of writing. This page is therefore not intended as an exhaustive list and will most probably be modified and updated along the way. For the purpose of clarity I have divided my obsessions using a time frame with the first table exposing my current obsessions, the ones that have existed since the beginning of my “OCPD crisis” but that have also persisted into present times. The following tables only describe my past obsessions, the ones that have existed at some point in my life in the last 4 years but that have disappeared along the way due to a betterment of my mental health in the last 1 or 2 years. In all tables obsessions have been scaled in terms of intensity, in other words as pertaining to the distress they can cause or the attention that I devolve to them.

You will notice that many if not most of my symptoms are related to my physical body in some way or another. Although one could argue that I am afflicted with Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), I disagree with that statement and I am enclined to believe that OCPD is a more general condition incorporating elements of BDD. I will expose my arguments in forthcoming articles.

Mr. OCPD
